I remember the day like it was yesterday…9/11/2001. The kids and I were getting ready for the day while I was watching the news. It was a normal day then it all changed. I was in the middle of getting ready when they were showing live coverage.
We were all standing in living room watching the news in shock and crying. I don’t cry much, but I grew up in New York and have family there. I still can’t believe this happened. My mom kept calling our relatives back in NYC to make sure everyone was okay. I couldn’t do anything for two days until I knew everyone was safe. My cousin was a police officer during this time and I can only image what he was going through. I am thankful that he made it out alive. It breaks my heart to think of all the trauma that everyone had to endure.
I recently visited the memorial in New York and it touched my heart. It was beautiful but also very sad to think that this had affected so many families. The day still haunts me as I am sure it does to everyone else, but I am grateful that we never let it bring us down.
